Repairing the Axels
Now work was starting to pile up for us.

First, we took out the front suspension and had the local VW/Audi garage press in new rubber bearings.

 

Next, we removed the struts and replaced the shocks and dome bearings.
Simultaneously we changed the stabilizer rubbers and while the parts were out ...

...we removed rust and repainted them.

Now that the front axle was like new we moved on to prepare the engine for mounting.
